Happy 4th of July!

Where did June go? Oh well...time flies but we had a wonderful holiday weekend and hope that all of you who read our blog did as well.

Caleb was really looking forward to July 4th because he knew that meant we could set off the fireworks that we had! On Saturday we started our day out by going to the Portage Parade with our friends the Carver's. The parade was a lot of fun...very long and hot...but we all enjoyed the time we got to spend together.

Caleb took a little time before the parade started to draw some art work on the road. See his orange bow and arrow!

Scrambling for some C-A-N-D-Y!

This is our neighbor, Antonio, riding with his dad in the tanker truck from one of the local fire departments.

This was a float done by a local youth group....what looks like a statue is really members of the youth group! Very cool!

After the parade we spent the rest of the day/evening at home!! Jim had promised Caleb that he would set up our tent one night soon and he picked Saturday night to do this. We told Caleb that he and his friend could sleep out in the tent that night. We did a few fireworks & sparklers then headed to the back yard for a fire and camp out. Caleb and his friend Antonio roasted marshmallows and made smores...then head to the tent for their sleep over. They only stay out in the tent for about an hour...because all of the loud fireworks that were going off till the wee hours of the morning...but they still had a blast!

Jim setting off a rocket of some sort...and Caleb watching!

Enjoy the rest of the summer...we will have more posts to come with all the fun things we still have planned for the next few months before we head back to school and welcome our new addition to our family!
